Luxury Summer Beauty Edit

Summertime and the livin’ is easy!

Now that summer is here, I’m suddenly a lot more excited about makeup and also changing up my products. Because of this, I’m excited to share with you both my drugstore & luxury beauty picks. Here are the luxury ones…

Base is important during the summer because you want that glow, but when the humidity hits, you don’t want to look overly sweaty. You also often need the makeup to last long into the evening for all those evening plans that pop up during the day. By Terry Sheer Expert has been a firm favourite of mine for a while now, a light tinted moisturiser which offers enough coverage for redness but still allows for freckles to come through. You will have seen me rave about the Lancome Miracle Cushion Foundation-it really is a miracle! I use the shade 01. Although I don’t use the applicator that comes with it, I use my beauty blender and it blends seamlessly into the skin, leaving a beautiful glowy look to the face. Humidity means sweaty skin, there’s no denying that, so I’ve been making an effort to carry a powder around with me. A new launch is the Bare Minerals Powder Duo, which contains a matte powder and a glow powder. So for the t-zone you can use the matte powder to rid any shine but add the glow powder to the cheeks for a little brightening up. Post makeup application in the morning, I always dust a little of the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder onto my skin, a product I’ve loved for so long now. A little goes a long way with this product which means that it lasts for so long!

When do I not love a little (or a lot) highlighter? A primer I love using before my foundation is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter, which gives a subtle ‘glow from within’ look to the skin once foundation has been applied over the top. With this product, you can either mix it in with your foundation or apply a layer of this before applying the foundation over the top. Another option for a primer is the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer, which is described as an instant soft-focus beauty flash primer! As well as using it underneath foundation, it can also be applied on top of the foundation throughout the day to give your skin a pick-me-up. For a pop of highlight, naturally, you need to have Becca Champagne Pop Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector. It’s popular for a reason as it really is an incredible pop of highlight. It’s beautiful, buttery and so finely milled. As it’s summer, it’s the perfect time to try out a bronzing highlighter like the Soleil Tan De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid. A sheer lightweight fluid which adds a little colour to the skin while also adding a beautifully radiant look. Containing light-reflecting pigments, you’ll be glowing in the sun with this product.

As I’m naturally quite fair and don’t tan easily, I look to blush & bronzer to add colour onto my face. Because of that, I always have a selection to pick from. For bronzer, I have been drawn to the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronze Perfect Tan recently, mostly because of its huge size. It’s possibly the biggest bronzer I’ve ever seen! With a lovely radiant-matte finish, it adds a touch of colour and makes you look as if you’ve been sat on the beach. For a smaller more travel-friendly bronzer, Guerlain is known to be the best for bronzers and they never disappoint. Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in 02 is just beautiful. For a powder bronze & highlight duo, Tom Ford is where it’s at. The Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo is a lightly shimmering highlighter & bronzer which creates a radiant look to the skin. It’s almost as if you’ve spent a week in St Tropez! For a palette that does it all, look no further than the Hourglass Illume Sheer Colour Trio Palette in Sunset. A cream bronzer, highlighter & blush in one, they are beautiful cream to powder formulas which set after a few seconds without looking too drying. For a quick easy application, it’s best to use your fingers as the product warms to the touch of the skin.

For blush, I always prefer a cream formula, which is why I’m drawn to the new Laura Mercier Colour Dots Lip + Cheek Sheers. I have the shades Tequila Sunrise, a bright fuschia and Fruit Punch, a muted bright pink. It adds a wash of colour to both the lips & cheeks, simply swipe it straight onto the cheeks & blend with fingers. I can’t do a post talking about cream blushes without mentioning the wonderful Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blushes, especially in Rose Glow! A powder option I have been loving are the Becca Luminous Blushes, which is a powder blush in the same formula as the pressed highlighters by Becca!

For eyes, I only have one eyeshadow I’ve really been gravitating towards, which is the Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow in Beige Dore. It’s a golden beige eyeshadow stick which gives off the most beautiful frosted finish to the eyes. A swipe of that across the lid with lashes of mascara has been my go-to look for a very simple quick and easy eye.

Lips are where it’s at-it’s known that I’m a huge lip product lover. Keeping with the summer theme, both of my lip products in this edit are a beautiful pink which is so universally flattering. The Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in New Wave was part of their Spring 2016 collection, it’s a peach toned pink but with also blue undertones so it makes your teeth look whiter. It has a short brush applicator which glides onto the lips leaving an even finish of the gloss. Lately, I have been obsessed with the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, especially the shade Berlin. It’s a warm rose shade with a hint of red in there too. The finish is super matte, although it doesn’t dry your lips out, but it will be sure to stay there for hours and hours.

I don’t often change my brushes because I have a good collection and have something for every need, which is why I don’t always talk about them. But two new brushes have come into my collection and they are certainly worth mentioning. First up is the Clinique Buffing Brush which is a new release & one of my now all time favourite foundation brushes. I would describe it as a mix between a stippling brush and a buffing brush, however, it blends the foundation into your skin so quickly & leaving no brush marks. If this is a taste for any future brushes Clinique is going to release, then everyone is in for a treat. Along with the huge Marc Jacobs bronzer, you also need a huge brush, which is why the Marc Jacobs The Bronze Bronzer Brush was released. It’s an extra large slightly tapered bronzer brush which will ensure that no part of your face goes amiss of bronzer.
